Mary E. "Beth" Thompson, 73, of 5021 Crane Creek Road, died Monday, July 20, at Allen Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 30, 1924, in Waterloo, daughter of Willard and ida A. Hanlon Barlow. She married Ralph L. "Tommy" Thompson on Dec. 4, 1949, in Waterloo.
Mrs. Thompson was a grocery store clerk and nurses' aide at the Mental Health Institute in Independence and at Friendship Village. She also had been the activity coordinator at the Black Hawk county Care Facility.
Survived by: her husband; two sons, Richard L. of Oelwein and Larry D. of Dunkerton; a daughter, Beverly J. Thompson of Onalaska, Wis.; eight grandchildren; three brothers, W. Gene Barlow of West Des Moines, Jim Barlow of Des Moines, and David J. Barlow of Waterloo; and a sister, Pat Barlow of corona, Calif.
Preceded in death by: a brother, Don Barlow.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, with burial in Fairview cemetery, both in Dunkerton. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Chapel, Jesup, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.
