Ray Brown, 73, of 127 Leland Ave. died at 4:40 a.m. in Allen Memorial Hospital from complications of diabetes. He had been ill for about 5 years. Mr. Brown was born March 13, 1889 in Fisher, Ill., the son of Robert and Leota Tucker Brown.
He moved to Lexington , Nebraska with his family when he was 3.
In 1910 he moved to Waterloo where he lived for 3 years. Then he farmed near Jesup. He served overseas in World War I and returned to Waterloo after his discharge.
Mr. Brown operated the Ray Brown Heating and Sales Co. after returning to Waterloo. Later he was manager of the plumbing and heating department of Sears & Roebuck. In recent years he was heating engineer for Standard Heating and Equipment Co., member of American Legion Post #138 of Waterloo.
Married Marjorie Marsh, Nov. 8, 1925 in Jesup. Other survivors include a son, DeLeon of Lexington, Nebr., daughter Mrs. Wendell Tollefson, Jr. of Long Lake, Minn., two sisters, Mrs. B.V. Blair of Ontario, Ore. and Mrs. Ira Hatfield of Mission, Kan. and two grandchildren.
Funeral services are tentatively set for Saturday. Parrott & Wood Funeral Home.
