 Roland Brown, 83, of the rural Independence-Jesup area, died Monday, Dec. 23, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, of natural causes; survivors include his wife, Eula; six sons, Richard of Littleton, Colo., Donald of Dubuque, Gordon of Columbia, Mo., Gary of Independence, James of Pekin, Ill., and Jerald of Crane Lake, Minn.; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irma Dinnebier of Jesup; he was preceded in death by a son, Darrel; a grandson; a sister, Harriet Rigdon; and five brothrs, Eugene, Alfred, Bernard, Creslie and Loraine; services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at White Funeral Home, Jesup, with burial in the Old Barclay Cemetery, rural Jesup; friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Wednesday; a memorial fund has been established; Mr. Brown farmed in the rural Jesup area.
