Elmer C. Burzell, 76, 2120 Sampson St., died Monday evening at Muscatine General Hospital. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Jamison of The First Assembly of God Church will officiate. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Burzell was born Nov. 5, 1907 at Muscatine, a son of Harry and Clara Niles Burzell. He was a life resident of Muscatine. His marriage to Birdie E. Cozad took place Dec. 16, 1940 at Kahoka, Mo. He was a truck farmer before his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Alfred Gatton, Davenport; Eugene Gatton, Indianapolis, Ind.; Richard Cozad, Muscatine; four daughters, Delores Jones, East Moline; Hilda Long, Violet Krueger, and Very Etter, all of Muscatine; a sister, Mrs. Florence Blake, Muscatine; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were a son, four brothers and a sister.
