CHARLES CHAMRA
Charles Chamra, 73, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, April 14, 1993, at Mahaska County Hospital. He was born March 28, 1920 in Tama County to Frank J. and Julia Enegar Chamra. He married Maxine Moore on Aug. 4, 1938 at Iowa City. He lived in the Toledo area for 11 years until moving to Rose Hill. He attended rural school near Rose Hill, and farmed in the Rose Hill area until retiring in 1979; he then moved into Oklaloosa.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine of Oskaloosa; two sons and their wives, John and Judy Chamra of New Sharon, and Lee and Kathy Chamra of Leighton; a daughter and her husband, Faye and Gordon Foster of Pella; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; a step-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Caroline Walsh of Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Wayne; a granddaughter, Karen Foster; and two brothers, William and Robert Chamra.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, with the Rev. Michael Crouch officiating. Burial will be at the Hopewell Cemetery near Rose Hill. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, 6:30-8 p.m. Memorials maybe made to Ronald McDonald House or Amanda the Panda.
