OBIT: Webster City Journal, Thursday 3 Oct 1907

 Last evening at 8:30 o'clock occurred the death of Mrs. Ellen Whaley at her home at 314 Elm street. A complication of stomach and kidney trouble and typhoid fever caused her demise. The funeral will be held from the United Brethren church Saturday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. F. E. Clark.
 Mrs. Whaley was born in Iowa Falls, February 29, 1864. Her husand died thirteen years ago. Seven children had been born to the couple, five of whom survive. They are Mrs. A.L. Doolittle, Fred, Etta, Hugh and Sylvia, all of whom lived at home with their mother. Mrs. Whaley had been ill about a month. She was a woman widely known in U.B. church circles and one for whom her many friends had the hightest respect. In her sad and untimely death, the relatives have the heartfelt sympathies of all.

VICTIM OF TYPHOID FEVER
Mrs. N. C. Whaley Passes Away at Her Home on Elm Street at the Age of 43 Years
- ILL FOR PAST THREE WEEKS -
For Several Days Condition Had Been Serious-Death Was Not Unexpected.
  Mrs. Ellen Whaley, who resided on east Elm street, answered the summons of the death angel Wednesday p.m. at 7:30, her demise being caused by typhoid fever. During the past five weeks Mrs. Whaley had been indisposed, but not until three weeks ago was she compelled to take to her bed.
 Mrs. Whaley has been a resident of this city for sixteen years. She was born at Iowa Falls in 1864, thus being 43 years of age. For a number of years she resided in Webster county with her parents, and in 1882 was united in marriage with N.C. Whaley at Ft. Dodge. Mr. Whaley died in 1894. To this union were born the following chldren, all of whom survive the mother: Mrs. Nettie Doolittle, Fred, Etta, Hugh and Sylva Whaley. All reside at the home in this city.
 Mrs. Whaley enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a large circle of friends, all of whom will regret to hear of her passing away.
