 Charles Kesl died at his home two miles from Elberon, October 18, 1918, of Spanish Influenza. He was united in marriage to Miss Agnes Zhorne, of Tama, February 11, 1914. To this union were born two children: Hilda Mae, aged 3 1/2 years; and Leon Charles, 2 years of age. He leaves to mourn, his wife and two children, besides his parents, his two brothers, and two sisters, and many other relatives and friends. Those present at the funeral were his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kesl, of Elberon; his brothers, Joseph, of Elberon; and Fred, of Camp Dodge; his sister Mrs. Chas. Tappan, of Chelsea; and Mr. and Mrs. V. Zhorne, of Tama. They were all present at the funeral except his sister, Mrs. Albert Haysman , of Tyndal, South Dakota, who was also ill with the influenza. The funeral was held at his home Sunday afternoon, Rev. Paulu, of Vining, leading the service. He was laid to rest in the National cemetery.
