Funeral services for Howard J. Meek, 82, of rural Tama, were held Monday, Nov. 6, 1995 at 10:30 a.m. from Harrison Funeral Home, Tama. Rev. Dewey Grimes officiated.
Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery, Tama.
Pallbearers were Mike Meek, Scott Meek, Larry Meek, Robert Vore, Jeff Slagle and Stan Avery.
Honorary bearers included Keith Fairbanks and Joshua Stock.
He was born April 6, 1913 in Toledo, the son of Harold and Anna Martin Meek. He attended the rural schools of Tama.
August 3, 1937 he was united in marriage to Eunice Glendy in the Methodist Parsonage. They made their home in rural Tama and Toledo.
Howard was a farmer most of his life, later working for the South Tama Schools. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice, Tama; two sons, Jerald of Tama and Joel of Buckingham; one daughter, Mary (Mrs. Henry) Zurkowski, Tama; four grandsons, five granddaughters; 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Lola Meek, Tama and Grayce (Mrs. Harold) Schmutte, Chelsea.
A memorial fund has been established.
