SORROWING HEARTS

Written in memory of Mrs. Catherine Laver by her aunt, Mrs. L. G. Richey, of Des Moines.

Life is teeming to the brim
With heart aches, pains and woe,
When he calls us; can we say
Like her, we want to go.
T'is sad to part with those we love
Our hearts left torn and bleeding
We scarely know which way to turn
As one by one they're leaving.
Me thinks in this my lonely hour
Whant can the future hold,
In dire d espair; I look around
Another chair to fold.
The face that we will ne'er forget
Now lies beneath the sod.
In calm repose, she went away
Her soul now rests with God.
Jesus speaks in t hundering tones
Oh will we hear his call.
He speaks your drooping hearts to cheer.
Come loved ones, he wants all.
Beyond the shining portals
Robed in resplendent white
We'll meet with those we loved here
If we but see the light.
Oh let us meet our jewels fair
Passed out beyond the portals.
There's nothing in this wretched life
But Jesus, for us mortals
So we'll not mourn, there's light ahead
T'is Jesus our dear Savior,
Who shed his blood and gave his life
That we might live forever.
