CLARENCE A. VAN AUKEN
 Funeral services for Clarence A. Van Auken, 78, will be held Turesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Geo M. Wittich Funeral Home. Mr. Van Auken died Thursday afternoon at Muscatine General hospital following an extended illness.
 Visitation will begin Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Greenwood cemetery.
 Mr. Van Auken was born Oct. 18, 1894 in Columbus Junction, a son of Charles and Martha L. Smith Van Auken. He married Mildred Seydel Dallas, Aug. 5, 1930 in Kohoka, Mo. He lived here most of his life and had most recently resided at the Hotel Muscatine.
 Surviving are one son, James Van Auken, Davenport; and a step son C. Russelll Dallas, Rock Island, Ill.; a daughter, Harriett Boeding, Rock Island, Ill.; and two step daughters, Mrs. Janet Schreiber and Mrs. Margaret Platt, both of Muscatine; and a sister, Hannah Harney, Davenport.
 He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers and two sisters.
