Philmont Villa
The courtyard of the villa that Waite Phillip built
This used to be the swimming pool and is now the garden
These little birds nested everywhere around the villa
South Tent City
Craig relaxing while he's studying
Brett examining a treasure he found
Andy exemplified the traits of the Scout Law
Terry and Craig in front of their "home"
Every afternoon while we were there it clouded up and usually rained
Craig and Brett
Brett and Andy waiting for the dinner line to shorten
The dinner line...barbequed buffalo
He could brand almost anything
including Craig's belt
She wanted to see what her stars looked like so we took her picture and showed her
Ponil
Craig's shadow, the only T-Rex footprints in the United States
Craig didn't start his geology stint until the next week but he couldn't resist giving a geology lesson anyway
Another T-Rex footprint, small, so it must have been a young one
This is the shelter built over the T-Rex footprints to help preserve them.
We're finally at Ponil
Taking a picture of the jet streams
This is an ant mound. Look closely on the right side and you'll see the entrance, a small dark spot. The entrance is always on the sound side of the mound
Craig finding more interesting things

Mason Taylor, artist and ranger at Philmont, gave me permission to photograph his work. If I had had permission I would also have taken pictures of the beautiful saddles and jewelry in the store. They were all works of art. |
